From July 30th to August 11th, the LY Foundation, in collaboration with the Yunnan Heart to Heart Community Foundation and the Nanjian Xixin Social Work Service Center, organized a 13-day “Summer Dream Growth Camp” at Songlin Primary School in Bixi, Nanjian, Yunnan. The camp aimed to focus on the real-life difficulties faced by minority orphans and left-behind children through thematic teaching on “minority culture education and music education”. It brought together the strength of volunteers and provided care and companionship to orphans and left-behind children in order to bridge the gaps in their safety, education, and psychological well-being.
The camp focused on two main areas: home visits and teaching.
During August 9th to August 11th, an inspection team led by the Chairman of the LY Foundation visited five local families of assisted children, distributing relief funds and essential living supplies. Immersing themselves in the living environments of the assisted children, the team strived to understand the difficulties and needs of their families in order to develop long-term assistance plans.
Teaching was conducted in classrooms as part of the “Summer Dream Growth Camp” at Songlin Primary School. From July 30th to August 11th, a team of 14 volunteers served as teachers and provided 115 students with 10 different courses, including physical education, sexual education, mental health, adapting to school life, building peer relationships, self-awareness, safety education, protection and inheritance of minority cultures, appreciation of minority music, and poetry writing. Children engaged in crafts and games with volunteers, reflecting on themselves and their surroundings through joyful learning.
During this activity, the LY Foundation donated a total of 23,114 CNY. Of this amount, 2,400 CNY was used to provide cash red envelopes and living supplies to five families of children in difficulty. The remaining 20,714 CNY was entrusted to the Yunnan Heart to Heart Community Foundation to support the preparation of the “Summer Dream Growth Camp”. Specific expenses included volunteer recruitment, training, food, accommodation, and project coordination.
“Let's go to the front line. The Accompany with Music is all about companionship, and we need to take action to bring real and effective support to the children. Everything is for the sake of putting smiles on their faces!”
